Fascia- and Membrantechnique - the discs
- Acute and chronic disc problems within the lumbar and cervical spine
Acute and chronic disc problems within the lumbar and cervical spine.
Manual diagnostics and treatment using Fascial- and Membrane Technique.
This course is about the different dysfunctions of intervertebral discs and their boundary layers. We will focus on disc protrusions of the lumbar and the cervical spine. We will learn about tests that will enable us to make appropriate choices for the different treatment strategies to be applied in case of acute and chronic disc problems.
The theoretical learning objectives are
- To understand the conditions of pressure inside the discs and around their boundary layers
- To investigate the relations between the pressure inside the disc and the tensional patterns of the fascia of the human back
- To understand the interaction between the microstructures inside and around the discs and the macrostructures of the trunk
- To understand the influence of visceral components in case o0f severe disc problems
The practical learning objectives are
- Competence for manual treatment of disc protrusions of the lumbar spine
- Competence for manual treatment of disc protrusions of the cervical spine
- Competence to evaluate the complexity of disc protrusions of the thoracic spine
All the different items of treatment will be practically applied on each other accompanied by close supervision. And each technique will be explained based on anatomical models. There will be modifications and variations of the treatment strategies for the different types of protrusions. (We will distinguish lateral, lateromedial and retromedial protrusions).
